Papa Cream

Just across the street from Churchgate railway station, Papacream is located near Cafe Coffee Day in the iconic Eros theatre building. Colourful interiors and an open counter that shows the ice-cream makers operating their queer machines, breathe life into an area surrounded by take-out places.

The cosy ice-cream parlour has unicycle high stools on the ground floor and leather sofas around round tables on the first floor. Triangular mosaic tiles protrude from the walls to act like tables. Rice lights wrapped around wooden fixtures hanging from the ceiling give the place a very cafe like feel.

Quirky flavours, bright colours and puff of liquid nitrogen await you when you visit Papacream. Done up in bright colours with quirky touches through out such as the unicycle seats Papacream projects a fun ambience. Their mission to make ice cream fun extends to the quirky combinations they have taken the freshly prepared ice cream in both the savory and sweet sides of ones palate.

It serves 100% vegetarian ice creams prepared using natural ingredients, no artificial colours and flavours are used in the making.

Apart from ice creams, papacream also serves sorbets, milk shakes and coffees.
It’s amazing to see live ice creams getting prepared upfront using liquid nitrogen.

So here is what I had –

Tiramisu – Tiramisu flavoured ice cream on a bed of sponge cake, dusted with cocoa powder.  Nice flavour of mascarpone cheese and coffee liqueur was coming from the ice cream. The sponge cake base added to the drama. Loved it!!

Bubble Gum Candyfloss –   Honestly, this was one of the best bubblegum ice creams that i have had to date. Bubblegum flavoured ice cream topped with candy floss, this ice cream, not only combines your childhood fantasies into one, but also delivers. TOTALLY RECOMMENDED.

Ferrero Crunch – The menu itself said no description needed and after having its first bite i couldn’t agree more. Thick, creamy, luscious, chocolaty, sinful, divine and i am falling short of adjectives. MUST TRY!!!!!! The taste was so good and pure, i felt like i ate 10-12 ferrero rochers in a bite. My mouth is watering while i am writing about it. You are sure to fall in love with this ice cream

Cookiewich – It is the best cookie and ice-cream combination i have savoured. Delicious combination with a soft and crunchy essence.

Belgian Chocolate Sundae- The dish looked very promising when it came to our table and in fact has the potential to be a real stunner. But a few tweaks from the Chef are required. So what you have essentially is a large, thick waffle and a little scoop of Belgian chocolate ice-cream in the middle, topped with whipped cream, chocolate and caramel sauce and chocolate chips. Each component on its own tastes divine. But together, the waffle overpowers the ice-cream which in reality should have hogged the limelight. If you do order this, ask for the dish to be delivered on a tray or plate instead of a glass and emphasize that you’d like a larger scoop of the ice-cream and less of the waffle.

The new ice creams are a mix of some revolutionary sweet and savoury ice creams and  have been designed with with a lot of patience and care with a view to titillate those senses and amuse that palate.

Take my word, one will never be enough. God bless the people who run this place, I’m definitely coming back!
