The chief attraction of eating out was to taste something different from home cooked food and being able to buy the same at amazingly low prices. Sabir was successful in bringing this Muslim stew dish to the forefront and catch the imagination of the people of Kolkata.

The dish is rather easy to cook and can be a real money maker in the restaurant business as it uses some very basic ingredients and cheap cut meat that has a generous portion of animal fat.
