Not Just Paranthas!

Life of Srish

……..and some confusions (blog related) that I am facing. I am also confused about which one to go for first but I guess you will all be interested in Paranthas more than confusions, so yeah, decision made pretty much. 😀

First of all, my phone is not working anymore. Something went wrong and, therefore, I am not able to click pictures for the blog. I also lost the pictures I clicked in ‘Not Just Paranthas’. I’ll see if I have any in my computer.

Yes, regarding this place, it can simply be summed up in one phrase – average. The problem with me having North Indian food in restaurants is that I have a whole lot of places to compare it to. I mean apart from the food that gets cooked in North Indian families, we always have the option to compare it to awesome dhabas that we have visited. In…

Re-launch & Culinary Workshop at Dunkin’ Donuts, CP

Shivangi Reviews

The workshop started with thoughts about designing the menu and deciding the funky names. The sampling session consisted of a brief discussion on the making of the food, sampling the raw materials and taking feedback.

The place has been tastefully and thoughtfully done keeping in mind the gen X. It has wall hangings depicting the thoughts of the youth. The makers have paid great attention to how the youth of today deals with issues and converted them into wonderful painting ideas. There are 2 floors to choose from. The ground floor has a casual touch and the first floor is more inclined towards elegance with plush seating.

The Beverages

The Parsi flavours: SodaBottleOpenerWala

A Traveller’s Wish List

Introduction to an Irani style of eating

SBO Interior1Words: Ambica Gulati

Whether at Naishapur or Babylon,
Whether the Cup with sweet or bitter run,
The Wine of Life keeps oozing drop by drop,
The Leaves of Life keep falling one by one.
(from The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam by Edward FitzGerald (Fifth Edition))

This was an experience of firsts—first time I was going to experience Parsi food, first time I was visiting the famed Cyber Hub, first time I went for a review alone and I was remembering all the Persian poets I had recently been introduced to. A slight drizzle sat on my shoulders and hair as I walked through the open-air decked up Cyber Hub food city.

Kingdom of Dreams, Gurgaon, India

Foodie & Fabulous

We were in Delhi recently when two of our closest friends had their Big fat Indian wedding – (fat, predominantly because of all the weight I must have put on from all the fabulous food). There was music, dancing and fun that went for what felt like an eternity. All we remember is endless laughter, hangovers and aching feet from all that dancing in heels. Amidst all the wedding shenanigans, about an hour’s drive from Delhi brought us to Gurgaon in Haryana and on many a recommendation, we went to Kingdom of Dreams, the food and culture magnum opus run by the Great Indian Nautanki Company (GINC).

328The entrance to Kingdom of Dreams is rather royal. You feel as if you’ve walked into a Bollywood movie set and any minute now you’d hear a director yell “Action” as a young couple might break into song and dance. The interiors are dimly…

Sonar bangla

Second Last Supper

It is no secret that Bengal is at the apex position when it comes to art, literature, travel and food in all of India. With names like Satyajit Ray, Amartya Sen, Subhash Chandra Bose, Jhumpa Lahiri, Kishore Kumar and Sarojini Naidu, if there were any doubts they would vanish in thin air. If you are still contemplating then to top it all, even our national anthem is by a Bengali – Rabindranath Tagore, the first Asian to gain a Nobel Prize.

the cutlery the cutlery

A place so rich in culture has to be equally good in food to meet the prime level of satisfaction for its knowledge hungry people. Just a few days ago I was invited for a lunch review at Sonar Bangla by TWCI (The Writers Collective of India), located in Sector 56, Gurgaon. The place downright denies the look and appeal of an up-notch eatery and gives a…
